A rigid material forms the outer and inner sections, while a second flexible polymer material provides connecting elasticity.

The degree of relative movement of the inner and outer sections can be determined by the constructions design, geometry and choice of flexible polymer.

Physical limits and performance, including spring rate and damping co-efficient can be precisely engineered.

Like the traditional ROSTA Element, the ROSTA Plastic Unit (RPU) is a torsional spring with inherent damping.

RPU can act as a pivot bearing and provide vibration isolation.

RPU can exert or resist a force, absorb kinetic energy and control or guide oscillating motion.
